KIVA - International Service Project (Year 4)

This exciting project involves classes selecting and making small business loans to poor people in poor countries around the world to help lift them out of poverty. These loans go to people who typically make less than $5 a day. We loaned over $2,225 this year and will loan out an additional $200 in December on www.kiva.org. To see our project, go to www.kiva.org, click community, search Talmadge, click Talmadge Middle School, and click loans to see our cool project. Some students may or have done their own loans/project from home. If you are going to do the project, try to start it soon!

What is Geography? Why is it important?

Geography is the study of the people and landscape on the earth. It is one type of Social Studies class. We only live on one planet, so we should all know what is on it and what all the parts are like. The world is becoming increasingly interconnected and what happens in other countries effects us here in the United States. The purpose of this class is to understand what is going on in the world and why these things are happening. Current Events, History, Science, Psychology, Business & Trade, Economics, and Political Science are all part of this class.
